Ecotrak S5 Deadlock
Shrewsbury

A tracker on its own tells you where the car went. The Ecotrak S5 Deadlock, sold by the manufacturer as the Eco Trak S5 Immo, also stops it. William Church fits it at your home or yard across Shrewsbury and Shropshire.

Deadlock ImmobilisationSend one command from the app and the vehicle is locked down, even while it is being driven away.
Driver Tag ImmobilisationThe vehicle stays immobilised unless an Eco Trak driver tag is in range. A stolen key is not the tag.
Monitored Around The ClockAn NSI approved Secure Operating Centre watches the unit and calls you the moment the status changes.
Thatcham Certificate TSC577The S5 with immobilisation category, which is the one insurers name on higher value policies.

William Church Fits It Himself

A tracker is only as good as the install. A unit put somewhere obvious is found in under a minute. Pull it out and the whole system is worth nothing. William Church is an approved Ecotrak installer and does the work himself rather than passing it on.

He has spent more than 10 years in auto electronics, so the wiring is read before anything is cut into. He is DBS checked and carries £1 million of public liability cover.

The fitting is mobile. The van comes to your driveway, your yard or your workplace. The vehicle never has to leave you for a day.

Two Locks, Not One

Most tracker pages treat immobilisation as a single feature. The Eco Trak S5 Immo actually has two, and they work at different moments. Know which is which and you buy the right system. Miss it and you have bought a map.

The first is driver tag immobilisation. In Eco Trak's own words, the vehicle is immobilised unless a driver ID tag is within range. This one is automatic. It runs while you sleep. It also beats a cloned or relayed key, because the thief has the key and not the tag.

The second is deadlock immobilisation. That is the one you trigger, by sending a command from the smartphone app. It is for the moment the vehicle is already moving without you. Two tools for two different problems, which is why this unit sits above a plain tracker.

What The Ecotrak S5 Deadlock Does

These are the features on the unit William fits. All of them are standard on the S5 Immo. The OBD option is the one extra.

Deadlock Immobilisation

One command from the app locks the Eco Trak system down. This is the layer you use once the car is already gone.

Driver Tag Immobilisation

Two encrypted ADR tags come with the unit. With no tag in range, the vehicle stays locked down.

Live Tracking

The app shows where the vehicle is now. That beats a last known dot from an hour ago.

Geofence And History

Set a boundary and get an alert when it is crossed. Up to 90 days of journey history is kept.

Optional OBD Immobilisation

The diagnostic port can be locked down too. That closes the route most key cloners use.

Specification

Everything On The S5 Immo Unit

This is the maker's own spec sheet, not a sales list. The unit is Thatcham approved under certificate TSC577 and ships with two driver tags. The first twelve months of subscription are included in the price of the system.

Eco Trak publish the full detail themselves, and it is worth reading before you buy from anyone. The manufacturer page sits at Official Eco Trak S5 Immo specification.

Thatcham TSC577

This is the certificate number for the S5 with immobilisation category. Insurers ask for the number, not the brand.

Deadlock By Phone

Immobilise the Eco Trak system with one command from the app, from wherever you happen to be standing.

Driver ADR Tags

Two encrypted tags are supplied. Move the vehicle with no tag present and an alert goes out at once.

Secure Operating Centre

The unit is watched 24 hours a day from a centre approved by the National Security Inspectorate.

Live Tracking

The app for Apple and Android shows the current position, and so does the desktop portal.

Geofence Alerts

Draw a boundary around a yard, a depot or a home and get told when the vehicle crosses it.

90 Day Journey History

Every journey is stored for up to 90 days, which settles disputes about where a vehicle actually went.

UK And EU Coverage

The unit reports across the United Kingdom and Europe, so a vehicle taken abroad is still visible.

Why the Detail Matters

A Tracker Alone Does Not Stop A Theft

Keyless theft is now the common method. Admiral put relay attacks behind 60% to 70% of the cars stolen in the United Kingdom in 2023. The thief never touches your key. The signal is copied from a hallway table and the car is driven off in silence.

A location only system does nothing about that. It tells you the car is moving and then tells you where it stopped. Immobilisation is the part that changes the outcome. The vehicle either refuses to move, or it stops when you say so.

Prevention still comes first. A car left on an open driveway needs more. The physical and electronic layers on the anti theft security upgrades page work alongside a tracker, not instead of one.

How the Service Works

How An S5 Fitting Runs

1

Send the details

Make, model and year, and any category your insurer has named.

2

Check the wording

William reads the policy requirement before a system is chosen.

3

Book the fitting

You pick a date and a place, at home, at work or at a yard.

4

Fit and hide

The unit goes in out of sight and the wiring is made to look standard.

5

Pair and test

Both tags are paired, the app is set up, and the deadlock is tested with you.

Common Situations

Five Reasons Owners Choose An S5

Insurer Named An S5

The most common reason people call. The policy names a category and the cover depends on meeting it.

Keyless Car On A Driveway

No gate, no garage and a relay attack takes under a minute. The driver tag layer is the answer to that.

Van Loaded With Tools

A van left out overnight is a target for the contents as much as the vehicle. Alerts arrive before dawn.

High Value Or Modified

Rare, classic and modified vehicles are stolen to order. Insurers rarely offer cover on them without an S5.

A Tracker Was Found

Units fitted in obvious places get removed. A hidden install by an approved fitter is the fix.

Clear Pricing Factors

What The Subscription Actually Costs

Two numbers matter, and only one of them is fixed. The system price depends on the vehicle and the install, so it is quoted rather than listed. The running cost is published by Eco Trak and does not change from installer to installer.

The first twelve months of subscription are included with the unit. After that the S5 renews at £180 per year, per vehicle. The S7, which tracks but does not immobilise, renews at £150. That £30 gap is what the immobilisation layer costs you each year.

Check the policy before you buy. A category is not a guarantee of acceptance, and some insurers name a specific product or an installation condition. The right order is written confirmation first, then fitting. The same point is made on the insurance approved trackers page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ecotrak S5 Deadlock FAQs

What is the Ecotrak S5 Deadlock?
It is the deadlock feature on the Eco Trak S5 Immo. That is a Thatcham approved tracker, and it carries certificate TSC577 in the S5 with immobilisation category. Deadlock means you can immobilise the system by sending a command from the smartphone app. The same unit also immobilises the vehicle on its own whenever no driver tag is in range.
How is deadlock different from normal immobilisation?
Deadlock is manual and immobilisation is automatic. The automatic layer keeps the vehicle immobilised unless an Eco Trak driver tag is within range. So it works while you are asleep, and it beats a cloned or relayed key. The deadlock layer is the one you trigger yourself from the app, once the vehicle is already moving without you.
Will my insurer accept a Thatcham S5?
Often, but acceptance is not universal and should never be assumed. Some policies name a category. Some name a specific product. Some add a condition, such as fitting by an approved installer. Get the requirement from your insurer in writing before anything is bought, then match the system to that wording.
What does the subscription cost after the first year?
The first twelve months are included with the unit. After that the Eco Trak S5 renews at £180 per year for each vehicle. The S7, which locates but does not immobilise, renews at £150 per year. Nothing is payable to WAC for the subscription, because it is paid to Eco Trak.
How many driver tags come with the system?
Two encrypted driver ADR tags are supplied with the unit. Each tag tells the system that a recognised driver is present. Move the vehicle with no tag in range and an alert is raised at once. The monitoring centre then acts on it.
Who watches the tracker once it is fitted?
A Secure Operating Centre approved by the National Security Inspectorate, 24 hours a day. If the status of the vehicle changes, the centre makes contact. The alert does not sit in an app waiting for you to notice it.
Can the vehicle be tracked outside the United Kingdom?
Yes. The unit reports across the United Kingdom and Europe. That matters, because stolen vehicles are often moved to a port within hours. The app and the desktop portal also hold 90 days of journey history for every vehicle on the account.
Where is the unit fitted on the vehicle?
Out of sight, and the position is not published for a good reason. A unit fitted somewhere predictable is found and removed quickly, which is exactly what happens to many cheap installs. William fits it himself and makes the wiring look like part of the vehicle.
